“Ispirazione” (Italian for “Inspiration”), is the title of a series of ‘Enhanced Sound Collages’. An acrostic that attempts to describe itself, with a set of nouns. Each noun is part of a set of the characteristics of a disciplined inspirational process, related to the act of creation as opposed to procrastination and unfinished works, from the idea to the final product. Each name leads to their own page complete with MixCloud player and full tracklist.

Furthermore, these collages are a study I’m carrying out to explore for my future works and a very personal playground where, leveraging on other artists sounds, to experiment, study and explore new (to me) ideas and techniques; without the constraints nor the inhibitions that might affect my production process in other circumstances (e.g: working destructively to stimulate the creative process).

These ‘Enhanced Sound Collages’ lie between composition and mixing. Layers of songs, audio clips and DSP processing that I blend and combine into a voyage; where, almost at all times, the several layered tracks and audio clips are overlapping and integrating to form a “new song that stands on its own”. Some of the times unnoticeably. Often times I shove some impromptu remixes in them, that I make just for the specific collage.

As pretentious as this may sound, to my mind, the multiple streams of sounds, which characterise these collages, should stimulate an act of attentive listening at multiple levels. To enjoy the story as if it was a movie, where audio is acting in lieu of moving pictures, complete of elements describing scenes that flow into one another.
